This week’s song encourages listeners to live in harmony with one another and appreciate that we all come from different walks of life. “Get Along” by Kenny Chesney reminds us to recognize other’s stories and individual differences in order to live a more full life.
“Some days, it’s like the world is just angry, screaming people. All harping on what’s wrong, how other people are awful. The more I move around, talking to people, though, the more I know people are seeking the same things, working hard to get by and hoping for the best for their family and friends. It’s simple, but we keep getting driven apart – and made unhappy.” – Kenny Chesney
A Song About Unity
About the Song
“Get Along” was written by Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, and Josh Osborne and released by Kenny Chesney in April 2018. They offered the song to Chesney who they believe embody the message they want to get across to the world.
“I said to Shane and Ross, ‘The second Kenny’s looking again, we’ve got to send this song to him.’ It just reminded me of him and his life and his look at the world,” – Osborne
We tend to forget that everyone has their own personal battles, experiences, and goals. The more we work to understand that concept, the happier and healthier our relationships with others and ourselves will be. Remember to take advantage of the small things in life and make the most of every situation you are in.

Lyrics
Had a Bible in his left hand and a bottle in the other
He said, “All you’re really given is the sunshine and your name”
We both started laughin’ when the sky started to rain
We’ve got a long, long way to go
Scared to live, scared to die
We ain’t perfect but we try
Get along while we can
Always give love the upper hand
Paint a wall, learn to dance
Call your mom, buy a boat
Drink a beer, sing a song
Make a friend, can’t we all get along
Wondered, was she photoshopped, or were her eyes really that lonely?
Did she leave her hometown thinkin’ she’d end up in L.A.?
Did she break down in the desert and get stuck beside the highway?
We’ve got a long, long way to go
Scared to live, scared to die
We ain’t perfect but we try
Get along while we can
Always give love the upper hand
Paint a wall, learn to dance
Call your mom, buy a boat
Drink a beer, sing a song
Make a friend, can’t we all get along
We still don’t know what love is but we sure know what it’s not
Sometimes you got
Down the road
We’ve got a long, long way to go
Scared to live, scared to die
We ain’t perfect but we try
Get along while we can
Always give love the upper hand
Paint a wall, learn to dance
Call your mom, buy a boat
Drink a beer, sing a song
Make a friend, can’t we all get along
