An empathy exercise for teams
Sight Unseen requires participants to rely on and collaborate with each other participants as they deal with confusion, chaos, and time limits that are required to be worked through as a team. This adaptive virtual experience is led by blind or visually impaired people from all walks of life.
Without the use of their vision, each participant is required to use their other senses throughout the experience. Without their sight, the group must find a common language to accomplish the challenges. In this empathy exercise, each challenge is followed by a short discussion on what they just experienced and how it relates to the everyday challenges faced by their host, giving everyone a truly soulful view into disabilities, adversity, and diversity.
Sight Unseen is a unique and effective team building event that builds lasting awareness and empathy for you, as well as provides much-needed employment to our blind or visually impaired Program Hosts.

Sight Unseen is a powerful empathy exercise that puts participants into unfamiliar challenges guided by a blind or visually impaired host. You’ll navigate tasks without sight and rely on others for clarity and support, which deepens your understanding of how others experience the world and helps build real compassion.
Empathy team building activities help your group notice and value different perspectives. When you practice empathy with your colleagues, communication improves, trust grows, and people feel more comfortable sharing ideas and feedback. These experiences strengthen teamwork long after the event.
In this empathy workshop, you’ll take part in guided activities where sight is limited and you must use your other senses and verbal collaboration to complete tasks. Each challenge is followed by reflection and discussion, helping you connect the experience to daily work situations and understand diverse abilities in a meaningful way.
