This week’s tune is a song about having a support system to get you through the tough times in life.
A Song About Having a Support System
“Safe and Sound” – Capital Cities
Capital Cities is an American indie pop duo from California that formed in 2010. The band consists of singer and guitarist, Ryan Merchant, and Sebu Simonian on the keyboard. The song “Safe and Sound” released in 2011, became the duo’s first top 10 hit single. “Safe and Sound” is all about having a support system to get you through the tough times in life. The message of the song is something that we can all relate to, especially after the global circumstances that most of us lived through in the past year. Therefore, it is important to have support, whether from one person or multiple, who will help us weather the storms and difficult parts of our lives.
“…In a tidal wave of mystery. You’ll still be standing next to me”
Lyrics
I could show you what you want to see
And take you where you want to be
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
You know my river won’t evaporate
This world we still appreciate
Even in a hurricane of frowns
I know that we’ll be safe and sound (safe and sound)
We’re safe and sound (safe and sound)
We’re safe and sound (Hold your ground)
We’re safe and sound (safe and sound)
In a tidal wave of mystery
You’ll still be standing next to me
Even if we’re six feet underground
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
I could show you what you want to see
And take you where you want to be
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
I could show you what you want to see
And take you where you want to be
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
We’re safe and sound (safe and sound)
We’re safe and sound (Hold your ground)
We’re safe and sound (safe and sound) We’re safe and sound
