How Retro 80s Video Games Can Build Modern Teams

Have we found the newest, hottest team building game in the USA?

This week we brought together our facilitators, event team, and sales team and we learned and played a new collaborative team building game called Team Synergy. This game was created in Barcelona Spain by a team of team building experts and boy was it fun. To those of us that lived in the ‘80s, it brought back memories of the game Simon and other early video games. It was fun, competitive, collaborative, and challenging. The game boxes that were created were impressive, the ai robot was fun and funny, the music was appropriate, and the overall event is unique to anything we’ve ever seen or played. We know TeamBonding clients are going to love this game.

Launching a new program is one of my favorite parts of running a team building business. It’s great for an entrepreneur to start a new little business within a business. There are so many choices to be made as to what our clients are looking for, what hasn’t been done before, and what benefit will they walk away with at the end of the event. Having launched hundreds of team building events in the past, sometimes you just know and this was one of those times.

Team Synergy

Why do we think your team would like this event?

In Team Synergy, a mischievous Artificial Intelligence bot challenges teams with engaging minigames, the ultimate test of teamwork.

It’s Inclusive:  The game combines tests of ingenuity, coordination and skill to offer an entertaining experience for any player profile.

It’s Cool Technology:  The interaction with the game is done through electronic elements such as buttons, joysticks and LEDs, generating a unique user experience.

It’s Vintage: The style of the minigames and the 8-bit soundtrack exude nostalgia for video games of the 80s.

It’s Funny: It’s a casual gaming experience and the cute game show host will put players in the most hilarious situations.

Team Synergy

What are the learning outcomes for a team building event like this?

This game format enables players to enjoy the experience together, sharing one same setting and, therefore, a level playing field. The game mechanics encourage cooperation; players cannot play alone, and they must rely on their team to move forward. Small group sizes demand participation from everyone. The game analyses the score obtained by teams in every minigame, evaluating competencies that result in a team report. By doing so, Team Synergy becomes more than a fun experience that helps build strong team dynamics: it also provides employers and managers with helpful feedback regarding their strengths and weakness in teamwork and problem-solving.

Special thanks to the Sheraton Four Points in Norwood Massachusetts for hosting us. It was a very productive few days of training on new game shows, a demonstration of board breaking, glass walking, and arrow bending and it was a great opportunity for our team in the field to have fun, together with our team in the office.

One of the best things about TeamBonding offering this team building activity is that it is exclusive to our 50 Catalyst Global Network partners who are offering this in 90 countries around the world. That makes it really special when our clients here in the US are doing it in their offices or their events, it can be delivered locally for multinational companies that could also be doing this for their teams around the world.

Give your team a collaborative, nostalgic 80s feel with Team Synergy, or check out our other high-tech team building programs designed for an extraordinarily interactive experience.
