Mikala Gilroy

Social Marketing Manager

In this series of articles, we take five minutes to chat with a member of the  TeamBonding team so you can get an idea of the sort of people we are. In this installment, we talked to Social Marketing Manager, Mikala Gilroy, to learn about her dream vacation, what famous people she would invite to dinner, and more!

What is your favorite part of working for TeamBonding?
The people! It’s great getting to work on a team that loves what they do. It’s inspiring and fun!

If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, what would it be?
I’d live in the TV show Sex and the City (NOT And Just Like That… let’s be clear). Manhattan in the late 90’s looked iconic, the fashion was fabulous and of course, their friend group was the best.

If you could take only three items with you on a deserted island, what would they be?
My phone, electricity, and a WiFi router. Bye deserted island, hello civilization!

If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would you go?
Tahiti or Thailand for the food and beaches!

What is your favorite food? (If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?)
It’s always a toss between Thai, Mexican, and Japanese food. If I had to pick one dish though, ramen! I could eat it every day!

What is the name of your favorite restaurant? Where is it located?
A restaurant called Urban in Nelson, New Zealand. Best oysters and cocktails of my life! There’s also a restaurant called Toro in Boston that has the best tapas.

If you could choose one superpower, what would it be and why?
Shapeshifting! I’d love to turn into any animal I want.

If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future?
Past, for sure. Specifically the 80’s and early 90’s!

What is your favorite four-legged creature and why?
Elephants, because they’re smart, social, and maternal.

If you could invite three famous, historical leaders to dinner, who would you invite and what food would you eat?
I’d invite Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Conan O’Brien, and Ina Garten. They may not be historical leaders per se, but I’d love nothing more than to queen out with them at a dinner party (which would be a four-course dinner that Ina made).

5 Fun Employee Meeting Ideas to Motivate Your Team

Raise your hand if you’ve ever sat through a meeting while mentally reorganizing your pantry, planning dinner, or wondering how long you can nod before someone notices you’re on autopilot. Most bad meetings aren’t bad because of the topic; they’re bad because of the format. Endless updates, one-way conversations, and zero energy are a recipe for disconnection. And if your team silently begs for the meeting to end five minutes in, something’s not working.
