Meet TeamBonding Event Manager: Maura

In this series of articles we take five minutes to chat with a member of the TeamBonding team so you can get an idea of the sort of people we are.

In this installment we talk to Maura McNamee, our new Corporate Events Manager, about her new role, bleeding blue and gold and how Zumba can lead to a major career change…

How long have you been here?

I have been at TeamBonding for a little over 3 months and I have enjoyed every minute!

What got you started in Event Management?

I received my undergrad from Southern New Hampshire University in Communications. I have always had a passion with working with people. For several years I worked in Higher Education. I was the Assistant Director or Admissions at a college in Boston. I loved working with my students and upon graduation thought admissions was my “Dream Job”, but after a while I knew I just wanted more. While shaking my tail feather at Zumba I met the Director of Corporate Events at TeamBonding, Stephanie Avery. I don’t know if it was my amazing dance moves but when there was an opening at TeamBonding Stephanie invited me to apply.

It was a hard transition going from a world of reviewing applications, reading college essays and attending countless college fairs, but TeamBonding has made me feel at home and has embraced me with open arms.

I am currently working toward my masters (also from SNHU because I bleed blue and gold, GO PENMEN!) in Communications with a concentration in Marketing and Social Media to help me become a better and more knowledgeable Event Manager.

What is your favorite place in the world to be:

THE MALL!!!! Ask anyone or just take a look inside my closets!

What was one of your biggest accomplishments:

Running my first 5k race with Russ. It wasn’t pretty, but Russ just told me to run like it was a Black Friday Sale and I did. It was hard but I pushed through and finished in one piece, thank god!

The most annoying thing in the world according to you is:

meet team building event planner maura

P.s. Maura loves pugs.

Rude people! I am a firm believer you should treat people the way you want to be treated. Everyone puts their pants on one leg at a time. Be kind, be understanding and be patient. You may not love everyone but everyone deserves respect.

What can’t you live without?

The MALL, did I say that already? My big Italian family! My friends! I am an only child so I hold my friendships close to my heart. I can’t live without pug pictures, potato chips and any of the Real Housewives on Bravo (I just can’t get enough.) I also can’t live without my boyfriend! Russ is a huge part of my life and my best friend. He has embraced me and all my wackiness, makes me a better person and brings out the best in me. He also still likes me after seeing the good, bad and ugly so he is pretty much a saint!

Do you have a favorite food?

Potato chips. I don’t discriminate! I like any kind! I also love pizza! I am Italian so food is a huge part of our culture; unfortunately I am an awful cook. I am working on expending my cooking ability beyond cereal but it is a work in progress.

Something people may not know about you:

I have a sick obsession with RuPaul’s drag race! Their confidence is admirable and they are soooo fierce!
